I currently own two Waterfords -- a model 1200 and a model 2200. In an email exchange with Waterford owner Richard Schwinn about these two bikes, he said: "The 1200 was essentially the same design as the 2200, except that it was equipped with Reynolds 753 tubing instead of 853. 753 is nearly as strong as 853, but Reynolds was phasing out of it due to its limited sales potential. From a design standpoint they are essentially the same bike. The serial number takes the form of a letter indicating the month, a two digit year code plus a three digit serial number."
Steven is correct that they both use Henry James lugs and drop-outs.
