If I recall corectly - from sports car restoration -
polychromatic is what would be called "metal flake" in the US.
In fact, I believe that Metal Flake is a trademark that has
passed into common usage, much like Kleenex. I think this is
the case for Candy Color, as well. It would be interesting to
find out what these finishes were called in the US before the
current names were invented by custom car painters.
