Hello Charles, I would give it a wash and a wax and then build it up. It would be a shame to strip that original paint and transfers off and turn it into another shiny new bike. I think you will regret it tif you do. just my opinion. I have MUCH rattier ones than that in my stable. Mark Stevens Evanton Scotland
