A friend's approx. 1981 Eddy Merckx bike is in my basement for some simple TLC, and I've noticed a common inconsistency in the drivetrain. He has the post-CPSC front der. with lip and accompanying correct bottom bracket and 1979 non-drive crank, but the drive crank is a no date version from about 1968-72, and is not correct for this setup. The arm is all we need to correct, and is in very good condition, albeit with the light trace of der. lip rub on the inside (despite a very good installation technique 20 years ago), and just a couple of relatively small blemishes otherwise. Photos can easily be taken and emailed to show the exact condition. Does anyone have a comparable condition drive crank dated 1977 or later that would be willing to trade, or sell directly? My friend is hoping to get back on the bike after neglecting the use of it for many years, so help of the CR group would be much appreciated.
