Are you sure it's a 3-speed? Sturmey-Archer geared Sprites mostly
were 5-speeds with the S-5 hub.

Most common was 48, but I've seen 'em as small as 44, though I think those came with shorter cranks.
If you want lower gears, it's a LOT easier to just go to a bigger sprocket in back.
We have 'em as large as 24 teeth.
