Hello All,
While attending the Great Western Bike Rally in Paso Robles, Ca., we made a 2 hour side trip to pick up my previously placed order at Cafe de Velo in Santa Barbara. We parked in front of CdV on the very busy Guiterrez street. The freight door was open and revealed a kings (a Barons?) ransome in the form of everything cool and vintage that we hold so dear. There is a beautiful tricolor Gianni Motta suspended near the entry that greets the visitor. Shelves of freewheels, chains, hubs, brakes, wool jersies, leather shoes and numerous frames hanging from the ceiling tempt the visitor. It was completely overwhelming visually. In addition, there were displays, or shall I say "Shrines" scattered about, including an old Molteni Merckx and Coppi. I introduced myself, and Baron gave me a tour and a backround on the business. Although very busy attending orders and sorting stock from a recent container delivery, Cecile came by to say hi and chat. I first met Baron in 1984 when he was selling bicycle parts on a blanket at the Capital Flea Market in San Jose. They're both incredible people and will continue have my support and patronage.
