I'm occasionally asked if anyone makes toeclip/strap type shoe cleats that will mount to contemporary 3 bolt mount road shoes. I usually say no and even if there were they might not work well because of interference between the toe clips and straps and the shoe closure system (usually velcro straps).
Anyway, a customer recently piped up that years ago some U.S. entrepreneural type had made just such an adapter cleat, invested in the injection mold tooling, the whole bit..........probably just before the cycling world switched to clipless pedals.
Does anyone know who this was and whether this product was ever really on the market since I don't remember ever seeing or hearing about it (and I've gone to all the west coast bike shows since they started being held in the '70's).
What do list members do for shoes to use with standard pedals on their period correct restored bikes???
