I never have noticed this before, but recently, I observed that on a regular round type seat post, my thighs can just graze the outer edges of the post on the down stoke. What brought my attention to this is that when I mounted a modern rear light to the suggested location of the seatpost, I felt an annoying scratching. When I removed the light, I could still see the slightest touching of the post with the insides of my thighs, when I looked down from my trainer. Now, some of my bikes have the later C-Record type post, aero style (some aero posts are OT but some are on). With the aero type posts, my thighs don't touch. Before anyone posts that I must have huge thighs, let me assure you that that is not the case. Even my worst detractors only think I have 5 pounds to loose, and my legs are only a little on the muscular side, and not gargantuan by any means. Was part of the original concept behind the early 80's aero posts to give extra clearance for thighs with the inner bulge? Have others noticed a touching too?
