Friday has come and gone. Lots of people greeting. The venue for the dinner, 6-day race movie and charity auction next to Dale's shop was great. It allowed us to wander back and forth between his Cycles DeOro and the auction goodies during the day. I didn't ride, so can't comment on the ride other than to say that everyone commented that it was the most accommodating Friday ride in memory. Buffet of cycling food--pasta and salad, followed by the almost complete 6-Day Races movie, now over an hour. I'll let someone else give the details, but if I understand it the book is available as soon as the shipment clears customs and the video should be available in late summer. It is a great testominial to days gone by, when bicycle racers made multiples of the salaries other sport athletes made. The charity auction followed the movie and Gianni Pergolizzi and his helpers outdid themselves again. I didn't get the final count, but over $5000 was collected for the charity, Operation Smile. I was surprised that a number of very nice bikes didn't garner serious interest--Erickson, Carlsbad Masi, early Merckx with chromed lugs, and a Mercian stick in my mind as not getting close to reserve. There were definitely some great deals to be had and all for a good cause. Got to bed after midnight and I'm up before sun-up, so I can tell this is going to be a very long day! Lou Deeter, Orlando FL
