Chucks question has nothing to do with soccer games, little league games, criticizm, etc. It has everything to do with enjoying bicycles without some overinflated egomaniac boasting about my bikes are the best in the world. If you are jerking our collective chain, I'll be the first to laugh. The only complaining I'm hearing is from you.
Competition and awards are not necessary, in my opinion.

Great. The new reality outside of our universe has infected us all now. Soccer games without scores, little league baseball without winners, bike shows without winners. This is starting to sound like the French complaining that there shouldn't be any winners in cycling, because everyone is doping (OK..maybe not).
Anyways, the point is: Give me a break! Don't come around if you aren't willing to take criticism...and it isn't even criticism in these types of contests! Don't enter your bike if another person enters the catagory, because there is a chance, however slight, that you may lose!
My vote: As long as MY bike wins, I am all for bike show awards.

But in my opinion, the competition has created a major distraction and consequently detracts from the experience of looking at each other's bikes at the Bike Show. ....
Any other opinions out there?
