Hello Joe,

Just got back from vacation... apologies for a late comment on this post.

I'd exercise caution with the La Pre Alpina rack. I had one for many years (like Joe) and decided to pull it out of storage and mount it on our Chrysler Mini van. We were returning from the Great Western Bike Rally in Paso Robles, Ca., my 1968 Cinelli Special Corsa was on top. A sudden gust of wind hit our van and I heard a banging sound coming from the side of the van. To my horror, I saw my silver Cinelli dangling near the side window. At 70 mph I made for the minimal shoulder of the freeway. The QR on the La Pre Alpina rack had failed and the bike was just being kept from being bigrig fodder by a decomposing plastic strap which keeps the rear wheel in the wimpy tie tray. The La Pre Alpina rack is a very cool rack, and would be most appropriate on a Bianchi Blue 1969 Alfa Romeo Berlina. I would reccomend regular inspection of the rack or buying Yakima.

Regards, Dave Martinez Fremont Ca

Someone needs to point out t o this fellow that no one has roof gutters anymore but I just bolted the rails side by side to the Subaru rails. I shelled out big money for t hat rack 30 years ago and it just sat once they started to change the ca rs.

Anyone know where I can get a pair of the locks for the fork clamps? M el Pinto was the distributor. I had long ago lost the keys so I had to break off the locking tangs.

Also, I have the gutter parts extra if any one would like them.
