So when did Worksop-produced models bearing Carlton seatube decals first appear otherwise marked as Raleigh? I know these were around by the late 60's, but that is a decade after the acquisition. Did this occur much earlier?
I guess one might say production of Carlton's "own frames" lasted until the Worksop facility was closed some time in the mid 70's. Did I read somewhere that this was the result of a fire rather than just a management decision? Did high-end Raleighs continue to carry the Carlton seattube decal after Worksop was closed?

This was presumably the same date that production of 'their own frames' ceased. It all depends on your definition. It is often said that history is written by the victors. So far as cycling is concerned I am still waiting for the definitive Shimano version ......... Hi Folks,
I've spent some time going through the archives but I still am coming up "empty" regarding a few things: When was Carlton purchased by Raleigh? When did Carlton STOP producing their own frames? What would be a fairly accurate idea of the production date for frame #G2946? And, what do the various letters in Carlton's serial numbers designate?
Thanking All in advance..........
