Jay,
To be fair, "technically", the seller only says: "Here is a bike that was bought and literally ridden no more than five times around the block."
And he says it was a late 70s frameset built up in the early 80s...
He does NOT say that this was all after it was bought and first built up by him... or even bought by him as the original owner of the frameset and bike...
So, it could have been ridden those five times by a someone else he is selling it for, and claimed to have ridden it seldom...
In fact, the more I read the less I think it actually is his bike:
"Rigida chrome clincher rims that have a really nice profile" ... they are actually alloy Rigida rims... and that "really nice profile" just sounds silly, anyway.
And, it could have been bought and then ridden extensively by someone after the original early 80s build-up, and then later re-purchased and rarely ridden after a complete re-paint and subsequent restorative re-build with some newly replaced parts (such as the pedals)... and that buy may have been only a year ago.
This would explain why is it that the "brake hoods are cracking and need to be replaced" and the original bar tape is worn out while the "pedal cages have never even been installed" [by pedal cages he means toe clips].
I'm really NOT implying that the seller is a fraud... nor that the bike is a fake... Only that we really have to, even with basically honest sellers, watch what WE may be INFERRING from what is perhaps deliberately implied rather than actually stated in this or any auction description.
It does look like a nice bike, a nice legitimate Colnago Super. But, NOT a flawless un-tampered original early '80s build-up of an un-retouched late '70s frameset.
