My old ITM seatpost came with a unappealing finish, so I buffed it out to a low gleam, and painted the fluting black. The finished look was very nice and very classic. It copies the Super Record Campy infinite tilt mechanism with the slanted cradle, but unlike Campy it's execution is bad. The thing kept slipping no matter how tight I made it. I decided to eliminate the excess flashing at the top and to rough up the mating surfaces and grease the bolt. To insure it wouldn't slip I slipped in a thin piece of sandpaper doubled over as has been suggested on this list from time to time. I cranked down and cracked the top casting piece without too much effort. The Super Record post is elegant and with a judicious hand it won't slip but it isn't the best design. That goes to the two bolt Campy Record post. It may be a pain but you can be sure that it will never slip and you can arrive at the exact tilt with time. The two bolt, unfortunately looks a little clunky on aero themed bikes, so for those later bikes I prefer the original Campy aero indent mechanism post (first iteration before C-Record). This weekend I'll be bidding for a new old Campy post. That factory really knew how to design a proper item unlike the slip shod work of ITM.
