Les, some time ago I came across a posting in a car forum where the guy applied several coats of thinned Tremclad from a can and got amazing results, as good as a professional spray job. Tremclad is a Canadian brand equivalent to Rustoleum in the US. There's probably something similar available in the UK. It's for exterior use on metal. Here's the link. http://forums.beyond.ca/showthread/t-117715.html Lots of interesting reading and advice.
