Subject: [CR]Eddy Merckx's white jersey.

Dear Knowledgeable ones, I have just posted a few photos on my website of when I was at the Tour de France when it first came to Britain way back in 1974, the main reason I was there was to see my hero Eddy Merckx in action. Does anyone know why is Eddy wearing a white jersey when his team mates are in the familiar orange an blue 'Molteni' jersey's ? I admit I don't know much about the Tour, I don't think it is a 'World Championship' jersey and I looked up 'white jersey' on Google and it's for the best 'youth' rider (aged 25 or under) in the Tour (Eddy was 29) Can anyone put me and my brother's mind to rest?
