Thanks to some very practical advice from various list members I got two classic Aluminum-bodied peg-mount pumps up and running.

In the case of my Bluemel pump, all I had to do was find a Bluebel brass pump head (with 7/32" screw - British thread).

In the case of my Splendid pump, I had to re-tap an AVA aluminum pump head to M5 size (European thread).

I also found out that buying an off-the-shelf Zefal Competition 288 pump is much cheaper than trying to restore an old one. It also looks (and probably performs) better as well.

Next Question: My Splendid pump slides unevenly on the pressure stroke. This is after applying a dose of grease. What else can I do?
