This is one of those cases where the catalog reflects what was actually sent to market. The early SR headesets did have a plain flat spacer; it's not just an oddball drawing. What the catalog pic wont show is that it was alloy, rather than steel. The one I have looks exactly like a steel Campy spacer, but in a different material. The early SR headset locknuts where also more similar to the Record, but again in steel instead of alloy. The later SR locknuts (virtually al that you will come across) were a little different where the met with the spacer.

I've noticed that where the cataolg is most likely to show the "wrong" drawing is when the early version of the part was revised, but the art wasn't updated. For example, the SL pedals had flat cages in the catalog well after the cage was revised. In fact, the "bad" art was carried into the SR era by which point the flat cage was long gone (I think). So you get a pic of an SR peadal with a flat cgae, which I doubt was ever made. Similar case with the drawings of "long reach" Record and SR levers, long after those were revised.

I understand that catalog illustrations aren't always accurate representations of the real thing. Nothing is ever "gospel" is it?!?!

Also checked the Super Record Pista headset that is installed on my Condor Path, and it has the "fancy thick" washer (understand this is not a correct period/vintage headset for the Condor, but I purchased it with it on and opted to leave it).
