A bit more from the subject line as covered by Mike Schmidt. Granted I have been to only two of these, but this was by far the better of the two. Got in early as did Mike (but I had to pay) and tracked him down. Wandering about we found a table setting out parts of interest and I proceeded to snag some NOS Campy toestraps. But what was really interesting was the Gazelle frame that was hanging there. Bright red powdercoat with wishbone rear triangle and indented seatpost. Freek Faro later identified it for me as an AA Super Frame. Beautiful frame, but alas had a significant dent in the top tube. Seller also had a Legnano and a Battaglin funny bike. None of those items sold even though the seller later offered me the Gazelle plus a SSP rear derailleur I had been fondling for $175. Very nice frame, but I really do not need such a specialized type of frame. Gotta stay focused.
A stroll over to the corral yielded a Colnago Super, as Mike related. The only reason for me to buy that bike would be to flip it. But as my Wool Jersey album name indicates, I have an addiction. When I buy a bike, even if it is not my size, I am loathe to sell it. So I am better off to have left it there. LOL. The sad thing about that bike is it went to a local "charity" bike shop where I have the feeling it will languish at a ridiculous price. They have a rather rough Cinelli and a nice Moto GR there at said shop which are suffering just that fate. Later exploration of the corral found a late 90s DeRosa (Neuron frame) and a pretty sweet Rodriguez tandem($1000). Neither of which sold. A 56cm NOS Guerciotti frame appeared in the corral and later the owner accosted us asking if his pricing was fair. Nice frame, made with SL, no TSD markings and a later SL decal. Still had the grease on all the threads and the steerer is uncut. Owner says it will go on the Bay soon.
Wandering about some more, Mike introduced me to Tom Caldwell and Steve Johnson...always good to put faces with names. I contributed to their retirement funds with a small purchase. Found some decent Continental tubulars at a good price at another booth, so took care of at least one bike's tire needs for a while. Same place had a really nice Campy winter riding jacket for $50, but even though marked XL, it was too small for me. Further exploration found a nice looking Schwinn Passage...all Campy for $500. There was also a very nice Raleigh with a 531 frame equipped with a Golden Arrow group. Neither sold. Pics from the swap at the link below...
