Great use of a swimming pool. Wish I'd thought of that before my apartment pool had been filled.

The bike is beautiful and all the battle scars help feed our fantasies of it's previous use and the many miles enjoyed by the original owner. For me, this is certainly a part of why I enjoy collecting and riding old bikes. When out riding the lonely miles on that bike one would inevitably think of the days when all bikes (at best) shared that technology.

When people ask why I don't just ride new bikes, it is hard to explain to that young modern rider how, for example, a noisy awkward Simplex lever shifter helps transport me back to another time and place. And it also helps me to understand all the many long steps it took to bring us to today's effortless shifting. Perhaps one has to become old and stubborn to appreciate these things.

Wonderful Legnano. Thanks for sharing your lovely bike and superb photos!

This Legnano is another of my favorite bikes and I dropped it into the pool yesterday for some photos. It's amazing how the lighting *really* shows the wear from the years...
