- All will be revealed in the feature story I just wrote about this event for the next issue of Bicycle Quarterly...

Before heading south on our voyage, we all assembled for a “church service” hosted by “the Irreverend Matthew Cole,” a Lake Pepin regular who had just been ordained over the Internet, “for no charge

at all,” he noted. Cole, also known as “the Quicker Vicar,” handed

out an eight-page pamphlet which included “responsive reading” sections for all of us. In honor of St. Dunstan’s Day, Cole had prepared a special “Blessing of the Bicycles” program that included... for the rest of the info, stay tuned for my article in BQ!

- Nope, it was two days: Saturday and Sunday. The first slideshow is the start line, the second show is Saturday, and the third show is Sunday. The weather varied!

- That was the original camping stove hanging atop his 1935 F.W. Evans.

- No, there were some climbs, including the infamous, 2.5-mile long Bay City hill on Saturday. We also added some bonus climbing on Saturday between Maiden Rock and Stockholm (in search of an overlook)

and between Stockholm and Pepin (to visit Laura Ingalls Wilder's birthplace home). Sunday had a nice climb over gravel-covered Hill Ave., hence the people walking their bikes. All that said, it's a route that's totally doable by anybody who's willing. My sister-in- law hadn't pedaled since last year's Pepin Tour and she loved it.

- I'm the boyfriend! Lucky me!

Thanks for your interest. I highly recommend this event. It's really fantastic!
