LOL. I think we've determined that it's difficult to accurately surmise someone's height from a photo not taken in the police photo lineup style.

In photo David provided, Dr. Graves does look taller than the book photo but it also looks like his crotch doesn't have a lot of (if any) clearance over that bike's top tube. It does look like that could be the bike in the auction though so I am no longer skeptical of the claim.
