Subject: [CR]FOR SALE - Chesini complete bike and Kenevans frame/fork

I have two interesting items for sale that I will be taking to the swap meet in Westminster on February 4th, before resorting to eBay and Craigslist, but wanted to offer them here on the list first:

1. Chesini Olimpaide. Suspected to be from about 1980 or 1981. 56 cm seat tube (c-c) and 55.5 cm top tube. Columbus SL. Red metallic paint, no clear-coat. Chrome fork, chain stays and rear drop-out faces. No pitting in the chrome. The frame is in very good to excellent condition, with a few small touch-ups that were done before I got it. There is slight damage to a few of the decals. The frame appears well made, has a very nice "look", and has some very interesting details. Rather than a head tube decal, the head tube is engraved with "Chesini Olimpiade" and the 5 interlocking Olympic rings. The fork crown has a similar treatment. Olympic rings are also cut or cast into the upper and lower head lugs and the seat stay top-eyes. This is a very nice, somewhat unusual frame from a highly respected Italian builder. (Someone mentioned earlier that some Italian builders of this era were incorporating "flourishes" into their mid-line frames to help them stand-out in the sea of similar frames, and I think that may apply here. This was a mid-line frame from Chesini, but compares very favorably to some other Italian upper-line frames of the era.)

The bike is outfitted with a complete (mostly) Gipiemme Sprint group. The crankset, derailleurs, shifters, brakeset, headset and bottom bracket were all NOS before being mounted on this frame. The Gipiemme Sprint hubs are not NOS, but in excellent condition. The hubs are laced to Fiamme Ergal gold label rims. Clememt tubulars are provided/mounted, but are not glued. Cinelli 1R 120 mm stem and 66-40 bar wrapped with new Benotto red tape. The Seat post is Campagnolo Record, and has some scaring on the visible area. Saddle was also NOS prior to mounting, is Italian made, but I don't know the manufacturer, and is red suede. No pedals are included. Overall, the bike presents very well. Here's your chance to own something a bit outside other more mainstream vintage bikes of the era. Many pictures can be see at the link below. Asking price is $685 OBO, plus shipping.

2. Kenevans Competition. This is an uncommon Australian built frame, but I really don't know much about it. Probably form the mid 80's. The frame has a decal on the seat tube that states "Champion of the World 1983", but I don't have a clue what that really means. 55.5 cm seat tube (c-c) and 55.5 top tube. Reynolds 531c. This frame is NOS (and even includes the original box), but it apparently was on display or kicking around a shop for a while, because it has a little minor shop wear. The frame is painted in a black/yellow fade, with kind-of orange hatching on the seat tube and color transitions. Not the most attractive paint choice, in my opinion, but that's just me. The frame is certainly not something that you are likely to come across often. If you want something unusual and a bit different, this might be just the thing. Lots of pictures at the link below. Asking price is $225 OBO plus shipping.

Please let me know if you have specific questions, or want additional info or pix. I would love to be able to deliver these to someone at the Westminster Swap Meet in Maryland. A lot easier for me and would save someone some money and aggravation.

Thanks -
