Guerciotti bikes in my mind have always had "character" - for whatever that means. The one on the auction seems nicely put together - late 80's date seems about right considering all the cast bits. Guerciotti bikes have a bit of a lesser reputation for quality then the very top bikes like DeRosa or Masi, but they are close to that upper tier. I've heard good things about their ride - but as always, on large or small frames it is often a bit of a gamble I suppose. Condition looks pretty good from a quick glance (don't quote me on it) - not prestine, and the gunk on forkcrown from a quick glance looks like perhaps there is some corrosion there - probably not such a big deal as the inside of forkcrowns are hard to see - and given the location perhaps it is simply some wierd slimy ooze. Sometimes folks use every alchohol based cleaner to remove goo without trying something esoteric like water. Just depends on the goo.
For value? Track stuff is hot - and in Boston I bet there would be a dozen messengers willing to buy it if the price was low enough ($300 ish) - but on ebay with national attention for the frame I'd bet $475 to $675 for the frame. It will be interesing to see where it goes. This is assuming, of course, that there are no wierd defects of course.
