Subject: [CR]unusual Campy seatpost solved

I recently posted about a solid pantographed (Viner) NR seatpost and this weekend found someone with info. Seems the previous owner had a friend who was a machinist and would modify parts for him on occasion. The seatpost in question was a short one and he needed a longer post for his tandem. It seems that what I thought was an insertion limit line is the interface between the original post and the 2.5" addition that is wedged into it. Mystery solved! Now I just have to figure how to get it out without disfiguring the seatpost!
