Overall though that PX is amazing and the price hardly surprises me given the condition.

I had one of these of about the same vintage, in white with black lugs, in even *better* condition than the one that sold on ebay, sans the earliest delrin derailleur (had a like-new slightly-later delrin job on it) and I ended up selling it to a fellow lister for about 600 bucks, as I recall. about what I paid for it. This was...oh, probably five years ago. It was completely original down to the spokes..

I dunno if that bike would fetch over a grand today...but it might.

I am fascinated by how these bikes are increasing in value. Some of it is probably due to inflation: in inflationary times all concrete objects with value increase in value..but the rest? Due to many factors, no doubt. Interesting nonetheless. Even more interesting: how long will it last? Some of these bikes will likely *always* be valuable. Some will fluctuate. Will they keep climbing in line with inflation? Or will they all collapse as the generation that coveted them goes into that good night?

Mike Kone! Are you EVER gonna finish your updated vintage bike value list??
