I have just finished reading "Dancing uphill", Published by M&N Publishing 4 Brunswick Rd. London W5 1BD _www.m-and-npublishing.co.uk_ (http://www.m-and-npublishing.co.uk) . Cost about $30.00 plus shipping from UK. This book is about the lives of the Holland boys, cyclist in the Midlands UK who happened to be members of the club that I have now belonged to for over 60 yrs, Midland C&AC In Brum, UK. Charles Holland was the FIRST UK rider to enter the TDF in 1937. PLUS rode in the Olympic Games for England in 1932 and 1936 I had his photo displayed at Le Cirque 2007 with my 1937 Claud Butler track bike, won Best Display. also one brother Jack Holland built bikes in the 50s I think some members may own. I did ride with Charles in the late 40s on club rides, he was still racing in 1975 still doing VERY fast times at age 66yrs old he died in 1989 age 81yrs old. His TDF ride account is WELL worth reading, Shows what a sole rider went through, a lot different to present times. check out what they eat and drank on stops! Cheers John Crump OlddrinkapintBrt.
