Hi Guys

I've just come across your group and hopefully one of you can give me a hand with a minor dilemma I am having.

First a minor introduction from myself. I (Jose Rodrigues) have been staying in Munich Germany for the last year, prior to that I was in London for 7 and prior to that I grew up In South Africa. During the mid 80's to early 90's I had my cycling heyday, training, racing...losing mostly.

Anyway, recently the bug has bit me again and I suddenly have the urge to build up a classic bike. I chose an Alan 8 tube Carbonio as a friend of mine had one back in the 80's and I always wanted one but could never afford it. I managed to find a frame in mint condition on Ebay (NOS) and had it recently delivered. I want to build it up with period equipment but the problem I am currently having is that I cant get the frame dated. The friend of mine that used to have one said my model looks to be from the late seventies but he wasnt sure. I know Alan made the Carbonio from 75 till about 86 so that give me a full decade worth of equipmentichanges to choose from.

Hopefully one of you guys has some experience in this field and can spot when the model was made. Here are some details and I can email through and high res pics if need be.

Model: Alan 8 Tube Corsa Super Carbonio Distiguishing features: There "Alan" Logo is not engraved into the seat Lugs or the fork crown. The only engraving on the frame is in the head tube lugs (top and bottom) where a wreath has been engraved with a Alan logo in the middle. The carbon tubes are covered in a clearcoat type varnish which is different from most of the models I have seen in the past. The rear brake cable runs inside the top tube (internal).

There decals are blue and silver and dont have the standard white square behind each letter...(not sure if this helps).

I have tried emailing Alan directly but not much of a response at the moment.

Anyway...hopefully you guys can give me some pointers...just need a rough idea (give or take a year) of when this model was made.

Thanks for any help in advance.
