Whilst I enjoy the concept of utmost simplicity in attaining an objective , as in track bikes, I suspect that in a few millenia archeologists will excavate early 21 st century botched fixies and see these as the evidence of beginning breakdown of our civilization, or maybe the signs of barbarian hordes invading our countries and not understanding the subtilities of gear changing mech and brake operation, therefore hacking derailleurs and brakes off. That's the way archeology works. Now, where is my hacksaw, my plumbers wrench and my sledgehammer that I may proceed to build myself a fixie ? BTW does anybody know if pouring loctite into a freewheel will lock it solid enough to block it satisfactorily, I mean it wouldn't do to have a fixie suddenly turn freewheel and become an efficient machine.

Nick March, Mont de Marsan, France (where we are not yet afflicted with fixies, mainly because we cycle over varied terrain and refuse to climb off our bikes at the slightest hint of a headwind)
