Maybe they were just exciting to me. Doesn't take much to excite a teenage boy <g>. With Gian holding court, we'd review the previous races, look to the schedule ahead, discuss what needed to be worked on, take care of any club business - which was rare, and then b.s. and have a good time.
Certainly I don't know about any of the behind the scenes machinations, nor would I have wanted to at the time. I was sick of politics just at the race officiating level. I'll leave that aspect to you and Jim and anyone else who was there in that setting.
