"I have never done this; I am not a big guy; I have never broken a crank, but I sometimes think about it when I am standing up on the pedals. Do any of you do the filing as a preventive measure?

Happy Thanksgiving, Marcus Helman"

On "on topic" Campy Record cranks I always file the sharp edges off the spider and use a sandpaper roll in a die-grinder to polish those areas. I look at it as "build prep", just like chasing and facing a frame. At least I've always done this for any bike I'm going to ride.
