Friends: I would suggest that everybody riding Vintage stuff should keep an eye out for stress cracks on all parts of your equipment. The Campy cracks are famous, but that is partially because there are so many Campy cranks out there. Had a customer break a Suntour Superbe Crank, I have a high end GB stem from my '79 Raleigh Pro with lovely cracks on the top of the clamp. Another problem spot is bars where the mechanic cut the tape with a knife to make a clean finish...and scored the bars in the process...

Cheers!
