In the early 1960s, I raced against a guy named Michael Hiltner from PEDALI ALPINI. An awesome rider, I think, from Palo Alto, CA. His big gear, low, stretched-out style (read long extension) of riding was a revelation to me and my mates. I recall he won Somerville in 1963 (??) Race historians-?? He simply rode away from everyone. Somewhere along, he changed his name to Victorio Victoria, grew a big beard and generally became a recluse.
