I had the same translucent problem with ink jet prints so tried using
the laser printer from my work with much success due to toner being
solid. If anyone's planning on experimenting the paper is different
stock so don't try printing ink jet decal paper in a laser or it will
melt and damage the machine.
I'm sure with sufficient clear coat fade should be minimal.
