Subject: [CR]Who made the Firestone roadsters in the '50s?

I have a friend who is reminiscing about his first bike - a 1953 Firestone roadster with 26" wheels and a SA 3-speed rear hub. He says he distinctly remembers a "Made in England" on the head badge or one of the transfers and was curious who might have made the bike for Firestone. The only makers I've been able to turn up have been American - Huffman, Murray, Monark et al. Does anyone know of a UK maker that provided bikes for rebadging by US outlets (Humber, Rudge, etc)? Reply off since this may be crossing the OT line. TIA.
