Due to an adventure replacing pulleys on a Zeus Criterium RD, I've learned that classic RD's used at least two different size bolts to attach the pulley to the cage. Campy and Zeus used the smaller size bolt, which I think may have been 5mm, while Simplex used a larger bolt, perhaps 6mm. Oddly, the Spanish made Triplex, unlike Zeus, used the larger Simplex type pulley bolts. Some Italian RD's used Simplex type pulleys. In fact, I discovered yesterday that the original pulleys on my NOS Galli RD were actually made by Simplex and marked as such. And of course, a lot of Gipiemme RD's are actually rebadged Simplex units.

The point is that the bushing of a classic RD must match the diameter of the pulley bolts, so I imagine the Soma pulleys will replace either Campy type pulleys or Simplex type pulleys, but not both. Haven't actually used the Soma pulleys, but I'd bet they are the Campy type.

Hi Mike:

Yes, those work dandy... I think most of us on this list who have bike shops have those in stock... we probably have Bradley Wohl at American Cyclery to thank....

Hey all,

Shopping for a friends retirement gift and came across these. They look good. Has anyone has had any experience using these?
