Thanks Bob and all the kind people who offered assistance in locating Dia compe 23.5 clamps or similar for up to 26mm Nitto bars for my Weinmann brake lever clamps from 22.2 oem bars.

Almost simultaneously to posting in CR, Loose Screws responded to an email, and offered the exact same parts to me first. So, got some black hoods and nylon bushings too (I assume 2 ea, but left directions to add more bushings if required) for my Weinmann levers rebirth on new Nitto bars.

Now my only dilemma is whether to get 25.4 or 26 Nitto Technomic stem (225) and 176 bars (well, other than estimating a 'safe' stem depth offset - crunchy - ???). I really don't want to mess with any more shims than I have to, much less thin machined $10 Nitto shims.

I do like the cost of most 25.4 bars and stems (before multiple $10 shims for various paraphernalia), but 26 bars will be much easier in fitting items properly. I also think that 26mm should be proper ergo grip, especially for larger males. The OS 31.8 bars are still just 26mm where the hands grip it, and are just reinforced at the stem for stability (no real difference except price and subjective feelings). So 26mm is effectively state of ergo art (like fat Waterman ball point pens), so 25.4 bars are obsolete as far as I'm concerned (but maybe not someone with smaller grips would think so). It will be a huge jump from the 22.2mm I'm used to on my 1971 Supercourse. Nitto!

Thanks to All! Phil Bailey Sarasota, FL
