For sale: 1973 (?) Cinelli SC, 62 cm ctc x 57 cm top tube, 103 cm WB, 87.5 cm standover. $1650 gets you the bike with the original wheels (sew-up, on tipo hubs), Campy brakes and gruppo, 175 mm. cranks. Some choice of stem length, or credit if you want what I don't have. To be determined: Campy pedals with toe strap guides and almost new medium (?) aluminum Cinelli toe clips, Binda or later Cinelli straps; some choice of saddle. Options: second set of wheels, with clinchers and Campy Record hubs, or just second pair of hubs. Campy bar-end shifters (which I'd really like to keep, but they came with this bike). Etc.
During the time I've owned this bike, she's been about my favorite ride. Just plain great handling. This is the bike I rode for RAGBRAI in 2004, and didn't regret it for a minute. I'm selling only because I bought another Cinelli SC today that is 2 yr older and 2 cm shorter. I'm 5'10" and wear 30" inseam pants. I can straddle this bike - but barely, so I've been looking for one whose size better fits my stature. I don't keep two similar bikes in my collection, so The Big 'un must go. I would consider trades, but not much I'm really looking for this year.
I think I am the second owner of this bike. The silver paint has lots of touch up with a not-quite-the-same silver, which will show in pictures (I think). Usual chrome in usual places, clean head badge. Decals pretty good, except almost completely faded Columbus tube decal.
I will send pix to those expressing serious interest, but possibly not until the weekend. My selection of buyer will be influenced by what other things (like the extra wheels) a buyer wants with the bike, at a fair price. The tie-breaker? People who've contributed to our passion. But it might be than none of the usual suspects (list contributors, etc) is big enough for it, so don't be shy.
Again, the bike, pretty much as I got it, will be $1650, which includes careful packing, but not shipping. Delivery (free) to Cirque is a welcome alternative.
Thanks,
