[CR] Campagnolo Cobalto Lever Question

Hi All.

I just received a pair of Cobalto levers and I can't wait to mount them. But first, I have a question:

Did people often modify the lever bodies to more easily accomodate aero routing? I've seen levers both with and without a little triangular cutout. Here is a photo of what I am referring to:

So, were these modified after purchase or is this how they came?
