Subject: [CR]1930's Atala that isn't
Given that two CR listmembers have already bid on this bike:
http://ebay.com/<blah>
that others have undoubtedly given it a looksie, it should be pointed
out that the seller has indicated that he has no desire to ship the bike
abroad, whether to Britain or the US (in reference to the two CR list
bidders who have already placed their bids). I have tried to explain how
he would need to go about packing the bike for foreign delivery and
given him the corresponding Italian post office website page with the
costs, but so far he hasn't responded whether he might rethink the
non-foreign delivery policy.
He has also added the fact that the rims have termite damage, but have
been treated so that there isn't likely any live infestation anymore.
This is good if you want the bike as a wall-hanger, but doesn't make the
rims rideable. FYI, it would be quite simple to upgrade this to a
derailleur operated bike by adding a Vittoria Margherita gear change
system.
