Recent discussion about GS Mixtes, or any 531 tubed mixtes inspired me to take some shots of the one I put together for my wife to bring to Cirque. She was is not a fan of the bike. I put it together in haste so she could have a "Vintage" bike. (Anyone who's seen her "Iron Horse" knows why ;) ) It was a bit shorter in the cockpit I admit. And she's been spoiled by indexed shifting. When I, who am taller and longer in the torso/arm dimensions rode it, I had a grin from ear to ear. I let Bruce Miller, a friend who I wrench at the LBS with ride it, and he had that same "Schoolboy's first bike grin." Different strokes, I guess. Anyway, the link to the pics is below. It also got me thinking about bikes like Ray Barron's recent submission, and Neil porteur bike. It is alot of fun putting together bike with period flavor, without being too restricted by the "total correctness" we often impose on ourselves. Maybe we should include such an eclectic category at the Cirque next year.
