This may be what happenned to my Trek and necessitated a warrantee frame repair after only 6 mo!

> A great many frames sustained damage from over
\r?\n> tightening on too-small posts this way: On a new bike
\r?\n> assembly, the seatpost inserts with difficulty and/or
\r?\n> galling (scratching) the post surface. A panicked
\r?\n> bike assembler, or a store manager who wants to
\r?\n> placate a scratch-neurotic customer, not knowing about
\r?\n> adjustable reamers and/or brake cylinder hones,
\r?\n> uses the next post diameter down and just overtightens
\r?\n> the seatpost binder to stabilize the post. Voila--a
\r?\n> post that fits easily and with less scratching, and a
\r?\n> cracked seat lug ear or slot in the making.
