Subject: [CR]Converting BMX hubs to road

Occasionally, as with the almost complete 50th Anniversary Paramount project, I seek components in anodized colors, gold in the case of the Paramount. It seems this is more common in BMX components than classic road components.

Since I am pretty much totally ignorant of BMX stuff, I'm hoping someone with more familiarity can help me here. Is it possible or practical to convert BMX hubs to road use by changing the axle, assuming one wants QR? Was the thread on old BMX rear hubs the same as freewheel thread, or more like a track cog?

It seems that when BMX first developed at around the end of the On-Topic era, many manufacturers took their existing classic road components and adapted them to BMX use, often giving them anodized finishes that they imagined would appeal to the BMX crowd. I'm looking to reverse the process and bring a few bits back from the BMX realm into the classic road world.
