Hilary, where's the serial number on that Merlin? Left rear dropout, perhaps? And if so, what is that number?

I'm still hoping against hope to ID the "Mystery British" bike seen here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/cyclesalvation/sets/72157603271161355/ I do realize the similarities between so many British marques of the day, and the more specific differences between the bike you're offering and the one in hand. I keep thinking, though, that I'll be able to spot another bike of the era with the unusually placed stamp down on the dropout....
