Subject: [CR]For Sale - Bob Jackson 1990 KOF 20.5"

Greetings CR List,

I checked with Dale a few weeks back and obtained his permission to list this.

http://www.wooljersey.com/gallery/USAZorro/Bob+Jackson+1990+KOF/

The bicycle is a 1990 Bob Jackson as verified by the manufacturer by e-mail. I believe it to be a Grand Prix model. It has a 20.5" ctc seat post and a 20.5" ctc top tube. The wheelbase is exactly 38" as depicted (how I rode it in 2007) with 15.75" chainstays (as I measured them). It is set up with a 110mm Cinelli stem and 64-42 Cinelli Giro D'Italia handlebars.

The remaining components are all Campagnolo Athena, except as noted: Super Record downtube shift levers and Triomphe rear derailleur. The wheels are 36 hole Athena hubs, laced to Campagnolo Omega clincher rims. Chain rings are 53/40 and 7 speed freewheel is 12-13-14-16-18-21-24.

The chain and bar tape are brand new. The bicycle comes either with, or without the pedals, saddle and a pair of bottle cages which are not shown in the pictures.

This is not a show bike, and it does have an appreciable cosmetic issue (prominent scratches in the paint on the drive-side top tube). If the bike were some color other than highlighter yellow, I would have attempted touch-up myself. If there is a saving grace, it is that others will almost certainly not notice this while you are riding it because your right thigh will be in the way.

What the bicycle lacks in appearance, it more than makes up for in performance and handling. The bike is exceptionally agile, yet is very comfortably stable. This bike has had the good fortune to attend the Cirque this year, and allowed me to remain in the company of John Pergolizzi, Richard Sachs, Edward Albert, and the other legends of the lead group for about 80% of the Saturday ride (until the fuel ran out). If it was 2 cm larger, or I was about 10 years younger and my riding ambitions were to go really fast, I would not be parting with this. Alas, my first mid-life crisis has past, and my second one is whispering PBP in my ear. I am selling this fine riding machine to generate funds for my new ambition.

Quite frankly, I have only a vague idea of what this bicycle is worth. I will offer this to the CR list in a slightly unusual manner, but one that I believe is in keeping with the spirit of CR rules.

Bicycle can be had for $800.00 (will take first respondent if there are multiple offers). I will entertain offers for lesser amounts, in the event nobody thinks it is worth my asking price. The offer stands until Saturday afternoon - at which time, if I have not received my asking price, or some lesser offer that I consider acceptable, my friend shall make her way to the meat-market that is eBay. Shipping will be at cost. Bicycle will be well and securely packaged. I will spring for the insurance.

Thanks to all, and hopefully, someone will provide a good home for this very nice rider.
