Donald, listers... Do you guys not have access to Continental gatorskins in the States, in the 27 by 1.1/4 sizing, while i would be the first to admit they maybe look a bit too modern, big obtrusive decal, but brown sidewall.... i have several bikes equipped with them, having tried Paselas and found them to be very narrow , dead and not much in the way of grip on our Irish tarmac which is rough , bumpy and can be slick at the best of times; some guys have reported on cycling plus forums that they have had too many cut / punctures with them.... IMO they are running them way over pressure... i can report only one flat and that was a stray rotary wire brush strand which i found stuck in the tyre after setting off on a short shopping trip and it was slow to deflate. i run these around 90/95 psi and i am 230 lb. BTW has anyone got any of those 40mm + long top alloy lock nuts for a english threaded steerer..
willie carton coleraine n. ireland where i am currently looking for timber to build an ARK..

The problem is that it's virtually impossible to find the panaracer pasela 27x1 tires with a folding bead, that would justify the investment in new 27" double-walled rims. And, nobody else makes good 27" tires, imho. If you had the rims made, you'd better stock the associated tires. I have several bikes that could benefit from 27" high-quality rims, but for the moment I'll use NOS vintage weinmann 219-type single-wall rims.
I think there is a need for a high-quality polished rim, 27" or 700c, with a traditional horseshoe profile, period. I don't think the MA3 / Open Sport / Open Pro fit this need. The Torelli Master probably died out because its outer ERD was so high that tires were too difficult to mount ...
