I thought that the 49D (D = Dural) debuted in '49, no?

Kevin: Your desire for the correct chain set will put you in the era of the steel cottered Stronglight crank sets. The 49D, I think came out in the 60s. You can search on the web for photos and I would recommend Bulgier.net as a source. Not certain if they are there, but there is plenty of information out there. Bruce

I'm sure this has been brought up before, but is there a Stronglight timeline so the different type of cranks can be sorted into the correct period?

I seem to remember someone asking when did 93 chainsets start recently.

What Stronglight chainset would be appropiate for a 50s style bike with Simplex rod front gear, early Gran sport rear, Dural Forge Mafacs, Steel Campg seat post, and so on.........?

I'm thinking a steel 3 arm cottered Stronglight might be a good choice, but are the rings easily available?

Any advice would be welcome.

Oh, just read the 'rules' on CR list, what does 'attaboy' and 'me too' actually mean?
