Dear Listmembers,
I have one last personal bike I am going to offer for sale from my colle ction. This is a track frame that I built for myself to race in 1990 at the track here in San Diego. It's an all around track bike that was used in omnium style race nights (where I never crashed on any of my bikes i n over 5 years of track racing). The bike is good for both sprints and l onger length track events. I generally would build myself a new track bi ke every season; just to try various designs. This one was a favorite an d I have turned down offers to buy it for a number of years. The frame w as repainted about 2 years ago in the same paint scheme that is like the frame pictured in the Sept./Oct. 1982 "Bicycling" magazine article ent itled "USA vs. the World". It has salmon tubes with pearl magenta head t ube and seat tube. Lugs are ivory. There is gold leaf accent under the d ecals. I assembled the bike after this recent repaint but haven't ridden the bike much. The components have been removed to fit to whatever trac k frame I replace this one with.
Serious inquiries can see some photos by request. The frame is 48 cm c-t . Top tube is 51cm c-c. The tubing is Columbus SL throughout except for the PL 22mm round track fork blades. The rare Cinelli investment cast cr own for 22mm blades is on this fork, with extended tangs on the inside, by me. Best track crown ever made, then discontinued without notice. Hat e to let this go. Lugs are Cinelli IC with modification and cutouts hear t, spade, and club. Also the Otsuya BB shell, the best ever cast in my o pinion. No room for brakes and this bike is a real track bike, not built for road use. Paint is currently without flaw (except where wheels go) and very fresh. The seat post size is 27.4mm, English BB threads, stack height for headset is 35mm. Price: $3,000.00. It's ready to go. Serial n umber "1 90".
Thanks for looking. If you've been looking for a rider/collectible track bike, and you're tiny like me; this just may be your chance.
