I was wondering if anyone had a cottered pin press that they were looking to sell or would be willing to let me borrow? I have come across a real interesting set of NOS cottered cranks and would like to give them a try. Also, they are threaded for French pedals so I will need to tap them from English pedals. Has anyone done this and do you have any tips? Thanks.

Hi Beau:

You only need a cotter pin press to remove cottered cranks, not to install them, so go for it.

Re-tapping M14 x 1.25 pedal threads to 9/16" x 20 is a pretty straightforward process. You can also buy NOS French-thread pedals instead (from me, or a few other sources).
