Sorry for posting the original question two times! - But I don't seam to get my own mails (and who knows if I get all the answers)?
Well the lid prevents the nipple to be used as an ordinary grease nipple and the lid have a spring loaded plug which to me indicates that this is meant for oil. At the same time my wooden stick test showed no signs of sticky greasy leftovers, so if I have to rely on my own common sense I'll fill it with oil. Any objections?
